Well its been a very busy time, it feels like we have been on the trail for a long time, feel very tired today as we got off Ocean Beach after Kauri Mountain and there was notthing there, no camping grounds, DOC's camping ground was no longer available they had closed it for good and none of the accomadaition in the trail; notes were answering there phones and a storm was rolling in, lucky the locals came to our help again to take us into Whangaria, problem is we are now off the trail and as its Saturday yet again the phones are not answering.
so we are staying in Whangaria in the rain.......but thats the big problem with the North......no free camping...even the tourist we meet complained about it......New Zealand is advertised as this natural beauty, where you can camp on the beach and amaring the view ...it is just not true, most of the way is not camping and if you do not have vehiclae support to take you to a motel of camp ground you could end up with extra kms at the end of a day......thank goodness for the locals who generally pick us up and take you to a camp ground......without them this would not work for our family walking this trail without support like us.
