Out of the dingy and back onto the beach was done with a quick crossing of the dunes, such a contrast to what we had walked the day before. This is a nesting ground for birds so were careful where we trodded. Walked the beach for a few kms and then did another estuary crossing, which we took a bit further up to save our butts from getting wet. We got to Arai Point and then crossed over up the hill, this track has fresh mowed tracks all over the place, some leading nowhere, eventually got down to the other side. Auckland city council signs are best to follow. We did a few more kms and then set up camp for the night in the dunes. Chocolate o'clock on a beach where you can see sand forever, no people and go swimming in your nickers, watch the sun set in your sleeping bag. Have wild spring flowers at our dinner table, in our hair.... it was a really pleasant evening.
